Faith Like A Child

Faith Like A Child

The future generation of new ideas comes from people with faith like a child.

One of the greatest gifts that children have is the gift of a fantastic imagination. Children don’t worry about obstacles; they don’t worry about the power. All they know is that there are people out there who love them, that will hear their call, and quite frankly, they are not sophisticated enough to know what things can get in the way. That kind of faith gets them closer to the end result.

For those of you who have children, you will often hear them ask for a gift for their birthday, or a gift for Christmas. Usually those requests are very specific; what gift by what date. Sometimes children declare their future careers; I want to grow up and be a doctor. Just by pronouncing it, others will share. For example, the parents say, “My daughter wants to be a doctor”, and the word gets out. When the child realizes that there is recognition for that they try even harder or mention it more.

Having faith like a child is also about recognizing the power that is already there. You just need to let people know what it is you want to do so you can get nourishment, and use that power for the idea. Keep in mind that at no point does the child worry about the problems or obstacles that might stand in their way. Children don’t ask their parents what their taxable income is or if they have enough money. Children just say what they want.

The same is true for vision. Problems and obstacles are always there. The person with the clear vision, the one who looks at the clear result without thinking about the obstacles first, has a much better chance because they will approach it with a stronger more confident attitude. The stronger, confident attitude attracts energy of other helpful people who want to play a role in achieving the vision.

One of my favorite quotes by Albert Einstein is, “Imagination is more powerful than knowledge.” He went on to say that if you want intelligent children to read them fairy tales, and if you want extremely intelligent children, then read them even more fairy tales. The point is to always build up their imagination. In imagination, nothing is impossible. All things are attainable in the imaginative process.

Imagination has manifested amazing tools throughout human history. Many of those were only invented over the last 50 years. Things that seem so accessible today were non-existent only 60 years ago, but here we are doing all these things that we couldn’t do before. What do you think will happen 60 years from now? Will there be more creation, more development of these fantastic ideas. Will they come from the people who feel they have obstacles in the way or the people who have faith like a child and a greater imagination?

Obstacle to Opportunity

Overcome the world's obstacles with vision

Today the world is overwhelmed with news about banking failures and even country financial failures. Greece, in particular, is in the headlines nearly daily because of its default status. Though Greece is small, its financial turmoil has shaken all stock markets.  The fact is that there are larger countries facing similar financial stability questions.

What does this have to do with me Gordon? Whether you realize it or not the people in this world, including you, are all connected. I don’t need to tell you that the global economy affects the US in more ways than one. That is one of the amazing aspects of vision; you don’t know who you are affecting by not begin visionary. To every action there is a reaction and even no action can spin off a string of effects that negatively impacts others. The point is that these kinds of problems can be overcome with the power of vision.  You can turn obstacles into opportunity when you stand up and write your vision and author your future. When you do the effects of the world’s economy in your life will be lessened by the specifics of you accomplishing your definable intentions (vision).

The Blank Check Theory

A stimulated process to realize your full capabilities and overcome obstacles is something called the blank check theory. If you had a blank check and could pay for any desired help or resources you wanted. What would you do? Who would you help? How would you get YOUR desired result?

By starting with this mentality it is easy to define the things that you want in their fullness, and it makes it a lot easier for you to go after them. Most people use not having that blank check as a reason to not pursue their vision. Yet, they find if they did have access to this kind of resource they simply don’t know what to do with it.

So my question to you is, if you had a blank check, what would you do?

Vision Is Not A Solo Feat

Transfer your visionary energy to others

One of the biggest hurdles I see with people who want to do Strategic Visionary Planning is their self reliance to do it all alone. Good news! Vision is not a solo feat.  When you reach higher levels of the visionary success, you are sharing more of the responsibility of the end result.

How is this possible? In Vision: Your Pathway to Victory this aspect is called “replacing yourself”. In other words, you are able to utilize others’ strengths by transferring the energy of your vision.  That is one of the amazing points about having a clear vision, meaning it’s definitive, numeric, tangible, measurable, you can easily transfer that information to another person. Because your vision is so defined, that person will understand it, share it, and transfer that energy to others on your behalf. How easy is that?

Using this process empowers both you and the person you transferred the visionary energy to. Vision ignites an amazing flame that cannot be contained once it’s started. It will grow exponentially. All you have to do is be the spark.

Vision Wins!

Why you should have a vision.

I just returned from a very successful practice expanding regional conference held for the top division in NEXT Financial Group. One of the reoccurring topics of conversation with the financial reps was the importance of vision. Whenever we start a new company, a project, an event, or even a meeting there is one question I always ask… What is your vision?

Why do I need a vision Gordon? I could list a hundred reasons why you should have a vision, but I am going to simplify it for you. Having a clearly defined written vision allows you to harness energy, take great ideas, aspirations, and personal talent to a higher level. Do you want to get to a higher level?

Most people go through life with vague, undefined ideas about what they want. Every time they share it with someone new the idea is altered, and that significantly hinders the likelihood you will achieve what you want.  Want proof?

Some of you may be familiar with a goal study of Harvard MBA students in 1972 which showed 3% of the students having clearly defined written goals, 13% of the students having defined goals that were not written, and 84% of the students having no defined goals.  The conclusion after 10 years is incredible! The 13% of students that had goals not written, earned on average twice as much as the 84% of students with no goals. The 3% of students who had defined written goals were earning ten times as much as the other 97% combined. Ten times!

So the next time you are sitting around daydreaming about the future, take fifteen minutes, write it down, and watch your vision grow exponentially.

Write The Vision and Make it Plain Upon Tables

With this blog and my book Vision: Your Pathway to Victory, you may have noticed that I am an advocate for writing your vision. I personally prefer to use the template, but there is a lot of ways to write your vision. The most important thing is that it is definable and transferable so that you can capture the energy of others. You can share it with your friends, people you just met, people at work, or people in your network. You will be surprised at the power your sharing generates.

This process has not only proved to work for me and others I know, but there is an example in the Bible of the power of writing your vision.

The Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tables that he may run who readth it. (Habakkuk 2:2)

I often times write visions and leave them by the window just to see what happens. Most of the time they are acted upon very strongly, and I can tell that the outside power, the power of God, is acting favorably for it.
